Launch of Sahastra Gram Surya Darshan Program
- MAHAPREIT [Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited] and AIILSG [All India Institute of Local Self-Government] together launched their collaborative initiatives of Sahastra Gram Surya Darshan Program and Renewable Energy E-Resource Centre for CSRs & ESGs on 27th November 2025 at MAHAPREIT, Mumbai. The programs were launched at the hands of Mr. Bipin Shrimali, Managing Director, MAHAPREIT and Prof. Dr. Mukesh Kanaskar, Deputy Director General, AIILSG in the presence of august gathering of dignitaries from the sector.
- As these were launched on the eve of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule’s death anniversary, they bear important significance given the emphasis of Mahatma Phule on the use of modern technology to promote social upliftment, particularly for the under-privileged.
- These initiatives are aligned with the Government of India’s strategic emphasis on solar energy and fall within the CSR domain of Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013.
Background:
- There is a need for a transparent, trustworthy resource centre kind of mechanism for stakeholders, including for the funding agencies such as CSRs and ESG initiatives. This requires providing an open-access repository of technically and socially full-proof potential projects from which the funding agencies can choose from.
- With the theme of renewable energy for underprivileged is in infancy with many new entrants, another felt need is of reliable technical and advisory support.
- Needs to be ensured that once a renewable energy project is implemented, real time tracking mechanism (such as a dashboard) helps to monitor and ensure that the project is leading to the intended impact.
Concept:
The Renewable Energy E-Resource Center will provide –
- An open-access repository of technically and socially full-proof potential projects from which the funding agencies can choose from.
- Reliable technical and advisory support.
- Real time tracking mechanism (such as dashboard) helps to monitor and ensure that the project is leading to the intended impact.
