Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) Cell
AIILSG has set up ECBC Cells in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka. These cells will ensure the co-ordination among all relevant state departments (SDA, UDD and PWD) for the integration of ECBC provisions within the building regulations including the compliance mechanism. These cells undertake capacity building of ULBs and other government agencies to enable them to implement the Codes.

Project Intro:
Commercial building sector in India is expanding rapidly at over 9% per year spurred largely by the strong growth in the services sector. It has been estimated that more than 50% of building stock that will exist in the year 2030 is yet to come up in the country – a situation that is fundamentally different from developed countries. Having regard to the fact that the rate of growth in commercial building sector is amongst the highest, and that this sector needs to be moderated in its energy consumption, a project on energy efficiency improvements in commercial buildings has been initiated by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
This project would assist in the implementation and enforcement of Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) through a comprehensive and integrated approach through ECBC Cells in State Designated Agencies (SDA).Also, ECBC Cell provides technical assistance to commercial buildings to make them energy efficient and organize ECBC awareness and training programmes for building sector stakeholders.
